PlaceEcho — an ASCII Earth that plays the land

PlaceEcho is an interactive globe drawn entirely in ASCII glyphs and engraved from land cover and latitude. Drag it, and the ground under the centre reticle is read as you go — relief, land cover, population density and night lights — then mapped to a generative score, so a coastline, a desert and a city each sound different. It runs in the browser, with no plugin and no account.
